Christmastime in the Young At Heart Daycare

Our Elf on the Shelf has been busy . . . we have been reading Christmas stories, enjoying cookies with the Elders, Counting Down to Christmas on our door, singing Christmas Carols, making ornaments, Christmas crafts, and snacks-including Reindeer Chow (recipe below)!

Reindeer Chow:

1-12 oz. box Corn Chex Cereal

2 oz. Honey Nut Cheerios

¼ c. sprinkles

4-5 mini candy canes, crushed

1 c. chocolate chips

½ c. peanut butter

1/3 c. butter

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 c. powdered sugar

2 c. pretzel pieces

2 c. Christmas M & M's

Pour cereal and pretzels into bowl and set aside. In another bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.  Melt in the microwave on high heat for 1 minute.  Stir and heat another 30 seconds.  Remove from microwave and add vanilla. Pour chocolate over mixture and stir to evenly distribute. In a gallon Ziploc, pour 2 c. powdered sugar, add chocolate mix and candies, then stir and shake well.  It may be easiest to do this part in a bowl!
